New Delhi: Entrepreneur Hari Khemka’s autobiography ‘On the Move: My Journey as a Relentless Entrepreneur’ traces his journey from a 19-year-old novice businessman to the owner of ‘CP Plus’, the youngest brand to be counted among the top four surveillance brands in the world and among the top two brands in Asia.
The book, published by Harper Collins India, is due to be released on 1 November on SoftCover, ThePrint’s e-venue to launch select non-fiction books.
Born into a traditional Marwari family from Churu, Rajasthan, Khemka followed a routine script — respect your elders, marry young, learn Mundi and join the family business.
However, life had other plans for him as a split in the family business plunged him into a financial crisis and took him on a path less travelled. He was newly married at the time, becoming the de-facto head of the family and entering the business world without a guide.
The one thing he relied on, Khemka said, was instinct. From textiles to household goods, metals, steel, IT hardware and software, even real estate and education, Khemka experimented in different fields before finally settling on surveillance solutions.
According to Khemka, his journey will resonate with every young Indian.
“Nature throws a challenge at you only after it provides you with the ability to overcome it. One must have faith and keep moving ahead. Hari Khemka Ji’s life carries many lessons for the young and old entrepreneurs all across the globe,” said spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar.
Actor Gulshan Grover said Khemka’s story was a “beautiful story that takes you from the narrow lanes of Old Delhi to the soaring heights of corporate success”.
